Methodology

We conducted interviews across more then 10 people from different age groups for two comparative researching directions:

​

(1) Mainland Cantonese vocabularies

​

(2) Passages on two variations of Cantonese: Kongish (the mix of Cantonese phonetics and English), code-mixing (between Cantonese characters) and standard Cantonese. 

​

Interviewees were asked about their understandings towards each variety and their linguistic preference.
